Puppies Favorite Chocolate Cake! 

This recipe is plant-based, so it is safe for some allergies! But feel free to substitute any of the ingredients for your own diet preferences! :)


Cake Batter

Ingredients:
  • 1 tbsp Apple Cider vinegar 
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cup coconut sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder 
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda 
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil 
  • 2/3 cup apple sauce 
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract 
  • 1 cup hot water 
Instructions: 
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees 
  2. Mix the apple cider vinegar with the almond milk, then set aside. 
  3. Combine flour, coconut sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl, mix well. 
  4. To that same bowl, add coconut oil, apple sauce, vanilla extract, and the milk and vinegar mixture from step 2. Mix well.
  5. Add the hot water, and mix well.  
  6. Grease two 9 inch cake pans with plant butter and flour. 
  7. Pour the cake mix into the two pans evenly. 
  8. Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

Frosting

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 softened butter, or 3 sticks
  • 5 cups powdered sugar 
  • 1/2 cup almond milk 
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract 
Instructions:
  1. Mix cocoa powder and butter in a large bowl.
  2. Add powdered sugar, almond milk, and vanilla extract into the bowl.
  3. Mix it all together until completely blended!

Now Time to Prepare!
  1. Once the cakes cool, it's time to add the frosting!
  2. For the first cake, add frosting to the top until covered. This will be the creamy middle layer!
  3. Carefully place the second cake on top of the first one. 
  4. Ice the entire cake until fully covered in frosting. 
  5. Enjoy!
